Members of the Rainham Lodge

Once again the Rainham lodge have surpassed themselves again this year handing over a cheque for £1200 to the premature baby unit at Queens Hospital Romford.

A little bit more about the Rainham Lodges Efforts

The Rainham Lodge is a small Lodge of 7 active brothers and over the past two years has set itself a target to support an outside charity each year.

In 2010 we decided to support Help For Heros. In that 12 month period we raised £700 and on the 10th April 2010 we hosted a very successfull evening in the Elm Park branch of the Royal British Legion where we presented the cheque to the charities county representive. An extra £300 was raised throughout the evening from a raffle and donations direct to Help For Heroes.

2011 and we embarked on our new venture, and that was to raise funds for the Premature Baby unit at our local hospital, most money is raised from a  collection box in the lodge, however through the efforts of our local Scout group, of which two of our brothers are Scout Leaders a quiz night was held and this added an impresive £500 to our fund.

On the 7th October 2011 Brothers of the Lodge attended the Premature Baby Unit at Queen's Hospital in Romford Essex and presented a cheque for £1200 to the unit's Matron.

Our efforts continue into 2012, with a monthly donation to Cancer Research UK, and our new charity for the year is Starlight the childrens charity.

For years the brothers of the Rainham Lodge have met every Tuesday and have seen our numbers reduce, something I think we all suffer from. So to bring meaning into why we belong to to the RAOB we decided to make a difference and keep alive the tradition of this great order to which we all belong.
